Award-winning composer Jimmy López has been described as one of the most admired among the younger generation of South American composers. He is vice-president of kohoBeat, a non-profit music organization based in Helsinki. Mr. López has recently completed an orchestral piece to be recorded by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in November 2012. He is currently working on a new commission to mark the Centennial Season of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. As part of the Renée Fleming initiative, the Lyric Opera of Chicago has commissioned him a full-length opera based on the bestselling novel “Bel Canto”. The world premiere is scheduled for the 2015-2016 season.
